well, speaking of the government, at&t denied access to government discussions over time warner. ashley: tracee carrasco joins us with more on that and the other headlines making news this morning. >> the judge overseeing the lawsuit to block at&t's purchase of time warner has made at&t's request for the records between the white house and the attorney general and between the attorney general in the antitrust division regarding the deal. at&t wanted call logs and other communication records to prove it had been especially singled out by the doj not because of antitrust concerns but because of the president's dislike of cnn. a lawyer for at&t and time warner said we respect the judge's decision and look forward to the upcoming trial. the trial is set for next month. cheryl: there is a dunkin' donuts scam going around?

your rent, putting food on the table the democratic party has shown they understand that. >> even the super pac that supported obama and hillary clinton. they sent out a memo to those in the party say they are questioning the strategy of going after the tax cuts, the there helping the rich, bad for the poor. wrong thing for nancy pelosi and democrats to use as a selling point for them in terms. >> it doesn't make sense to go after nancy pelosi. historically speaking whenever the party taking back the party taking back the house is going after the leader of the party currently in control, does the word. in 1994, newt gingrich's negative eight in terms of popularity but it didn't help democrats in any way whatsoever to stop him from taking the house. that is point number one. going after these tax cuts, democrats have a really good field of candidates running

across the country. great knife that candidates of all backgrounds who have the policy they need to commute to their bases. out they donate that much of a difference one way or another. i do know far exactly a better candidate than about 10 republicans who feel it in the last decade. >> i've got it totally disagree with that. nobody over the last eight years a bigger lightning lightning rod for the republican party and its basically the gift that keeps on giving from crumbs in armageddon to confiscating guns. >> it doesn't matter for it. cheryl: it's early. one at a time. >> i'm still talking. my point is nancy pelosi is a good thing. if i were advising democrats. what i would say is your basis fired up. hate works for your voice. but now you need to find a way to pull in new undecided voters in the best way to do that is,

for some idea about what you're going to do for the voters and put it back into power. >> i want to bring up another point. when people go to vote in november come and they save more money in their paychecks come even 50 bucks, that covers the cell phone bill. democrats who sold themselves as those for the working people, working americans parking at the wrong tree trying to convince the tax cuts didn't help them are trained to see in a check. >> event at some point except the republicans have a hard time on the seat beside for years on end. the other night we saw a woman in kentucky in a district donald trump carried by 49 points in common than is running a strong campaign in pennsylvania for tailor-made republicans. it doesn't really strike me this time around the argument will hold. fifty dollars might be enough to cover his cell phone bill, but what about the future of our country, infrastructure, gun

another headline making news. >> good morning. talking about the $1000 bonuses employees were given because of tax reform and a windfall they are. but now come the union employees at disney world in orlando, florida said the company is withholding bonuses because they haven't worked out a contract. disney offering a contract with a 50-cent raise over two years in a $200 signing bonus. however, 93% of the union workers voted against the new contract. until they work something out, they will not get the bonuses. the bonus will expire on august august 31st. tricky. a hotel chain giving discounts for putting away your phone. >> this is an interesting concept. wyndham hotel will give you 5% off if you spend time with your kids at the hotel. this is called the reconnected

misleadingly suggest an endorsement on his part. chambers stayed. she apologized. that is what is happening now. ashley: donuts that captain kirk. our commodities tend in the return of market volatility? ceo granite shares. good morning to you, will. gold, traditionally safe haven with all this talk about inflation. the market goes nuts, volatility goes through the roof. i don't see it again and gold prices reflecting that. why is that? >> not yet. typical reaction the market has when you have volatility is the market tends to flee to safe haven assets, predominately the u.s. treasury first and then gold comes in as a secondary measure. typically you see higher performance in gold when inflation really starts to the some momentum here in the market. we are not quite there yet.

at the moment people are buying gold alongside treasuries in anticipation of higher inflation hearing also a weaker dollar. at the moment, gold sells off its treasuries the dollar is weaker. transfer your long-term bullish given on what we expect inflation to do. is that right? >> i believe gold should be part of a diversified portfolio and the conditions for gold and commodities are right. we have two back-to-back positive years for commodities across the board and these conditions we see now in a synchronized global demand increasing for commodities including gold and oil are conducive to where we are. >> with the prices are fair. 61.24 and sweet crude oil west texas. it seems to me oil was heading out pretty strongly. maybe in the mid-60s range and kind of came back down. is it all about the u.s. tracker is continuing to pump more oil into the market?

>> yeah, at least in the short term it's all about the short-term supply demand fundamentals. the market is well supplied at the moment, but what is keeping oil at this level for these sort of elevated levels is this big synchronized global economic demand for oil has local gdp increases. the market is well supported from a demand to end we've seen that in terms of the prices holding hearing recovering quite quickly from the shock after the volatility of the last couple weeks. cheryl: could you argue the influence of opec continues to fade as the output from united dates continues to gain ground? >> the influence is still very strong in the cut that they made are still working into a great degree we will see whether that can last. you have a few members there that want to try and buck the trend and start producing or pumping more oil.
