[chanting] thank you. no, they are actually friends. enthusiastic friends. earlier this week, we had a spectacular victory in new hampshire. we shattered the all-time record for the number of votes cast from either party. this never happened in the entire history of the new hampshire primary. we got the most votes ever gotten by anybody. that is a good -- that is a good sign. and i am proud to be the first nonincumbent -- look at this, remember this, in either party to win both iowa and new hampshire. we won both quite easily. thank you. now we will have an even bigger victory right here in nevada.

perhaps the most astounding of all his we achieved our monumental victory in new hampshire despite the fact that more than 50% of the voters were not even republican, you know? they were democrats and independents. that was a set up, and we still won by a record margin. over 70% of the votes cast. wow, i did not know this. did you know this? 70% of the votes cast for nikki haley. did anybody ever hear of her? you know, the republican party wanted to nominate me and just say skip the whole thing and we will give you our nomination. i said, don't do that. don't do that. i want to win it a fair way. pretty easy way because we are but over 70% of the votes cast for nikki haley on tuesday came from outside of the republican party.

they came from outside. about 24%, 25% republican votes. because of interfering on behalf of an democrats voting. they had everybody voting and we still won by a lot. the message from the voters of our party is we are trying to finish this primary and get going and defeating. remember this, we all call it a primary but i like calling it a caucus because your primary vote does not mean anything. it is your caucus vote. in your state, you have both the primary and a caucus. don't worry about the primary. just do the caucus. and we are going to go on to defeat crypto joe biden, and we are going to simply make america great again. thank you very much. you have a big thing coming up. don't waste your time on primary. waste all of your time on caucus. the primary doesn't mean anything. psychologically maybe a little bit, 2%, but it does not mean anything. with the help of you here today we will secure a gigantic wind in the nevada caucuses on thursday. so it is thursday, from right aid, right around the corner, to a good vote. we are not going to have a lot of good competition. we want to get a great beautiful mandate. and we are going to win the swing state of nevada. and we are going to keep the house and take back the senate. and we are going to get a lot of great talented people here. and we are also going to take back the beautiful -- isn't it one of the most beautiful places in the world? the white house. the white house. victory cannot come soon enough.

we have no idea what we are doing with our country. our country is going to hell because of incompetent or bad people. terrorists are pouring in unchecked from all over the world. we have more terrorists now. in 2019, i never believed this bully come up but i don't we did a good job on it. in 2019, remember, they said they had no terrorists. they do these checks. i don't know. it sounds like something trump would say to be honest. they actually have it down in a report that says none. and then the following two years later, they have record number of terrorists pouring in. same report. record number of terrorists pouring into our country, and there is a 100% chance it will be a terrorist attack. so many attacks may be and it is all because of what has happened over the last three years.

our president instead of trying to send texas a restraining order, i will send them reinforcements. [cheering] [chanting] i would use every resource through authority of the u.s. president to defend the united states of america from this horrible invasion that is taking place right now. there has never been anything like it. texas will be given full support, and i will deploy all necessary military and law enforcement resources to seal up the final section of border. you know, we built over 500 miles of wall, fortunately. but they are just -- what they are doing is not even -- it is

not even believable. usually, you like to know the other side and where the other side is coming from. nobody to this day can explain why this open wound is good for our country. and even politically, why is it good politically? first of all, with the hispanic vote, we are doing better now that the democrats. i think it is good for us. but we are going to seal the border, complete it, and we are going to repeal the invasion. remember in 2016 when i campaign come everybody remembers that. we had a very bad border. nothing like today. i solved the problem. when i ran in 2020 and the history of any president, sitting president, running for president. we got the most votes. we got more votes than any other sitting president. think of that. but we had a campaign and we did great in that campaign.

frankly, we did much better in 2020 than we did in 2016 but something happened. not going to happen this time. something happened. bad, bad things happened. but anyway, i did not have the border to run on. because i did such a good job with the border that the border was not an issue. and i went backstage to all of my people. i said i want to talk about the border. sir, nobody cares about the border, you solved the problem. so i did such a good job, i took it out of play. and now i am saying the border is in play like it has never been in play before because what they have done is they have taken all of the things that i did to make it so good. literally we could not put it in a speech. nobody wanted to hear about the border. we had no border problems. we had the strongest border we have ever had in history. but now we can talk about the border because it is never that it has never ever been worse than it is now. i don't think any border in the entire world has ever been third

world countries would fight with sticks and stones to keep people out. that is incredible. i believe that the number by the end of the biden administration will be close to 18 million people. that is bigger than new york state. i believe that will be the real number. that is the real number. 18 million people. and who does it hurt the worst? african-americans and hispanics. it hurts the hispanics and african-americans. en you look at the poll numbers how well we are doing with hispanics and african-americans but nobody has ever seen anything like it. they are a little concerned, the democrats. the democrats and the left. it was just announced 300 thousand illegal aliens trespassing across our border last month, 302,000. by the way, that is an all-time record. there has never been a number

like that. is bigger than most cities in our country. unbelievably, rather than helping texas build our border security up, crooked joe biden is fighting texas to tear our beautiful border security down. they are cutting all the wire. let's cut the wire and that everybody in. they want open borders. they could have solved in three weeks -- i would have been able to get another 150 miles of wall up. think of that. all they had to do, the wall was there. all they had to do was put it up. it was all set to be put up. and you know what they did? they sold this for five cents on the dollar. they sold it as scrap. they want to have open borders, and you are going to remember that come november. and now they are trying to blame anybody that they can. they will blame your great lieutenant governor's here. appreciate it. we will introduce them in a second. they are going to blame you, the governor, me, everybody.

kim jong-un, north korea. i did a great job with kim jong-un. people don't like when i say that, but we were very safe when i was president. you are not safe now. but you are very close to a third world war. the bombs are starting to drop all over the middle east again. you see that, right? all of those things can be fixed to our benefit with strength. to our benefit with strength. and israel would have never happened. and ukraine would have never happened. they would not have been an attack on israel. there would not have been an attack on ukraine. and we would not have had any inflation. inflation was caused by energy, by fuel. oil going to $100 and $110 a barrel. oil was perfect. remember this, so i did the imitation and the next day all over television, see, trump cannot get the stage either -- get off the stage either.

we don't like these 81, 82-year-old people. i am 77. five years is a big number. they always say i am 81. we are not the same age. but you know what? i know guys. i no one man who became a billionaire. he was not a loser. he was a very smart guy but his whole life he was never able to make money. for his and became a billionaire from 80 to 90 -- for his 80th birthday, he became a billionaire from 80 to 90. he was sharper and told me he felt stronger and smarter. i tell you what, i feel sharper now than i did 20 years ago. i will be not for -- probably not. probably. and i think anybody running for president should take an aptitude or cognitive test. i do. and i took one in office. remember? first they were saying this guy is brilliant. he wants to take over the world.

then they went through about four different scenarios. then they said he wants total control of the united states. he is never going to give up control. he is totally brilliant. then they went to another one that did not work much, did not scare people. then he said he is dumb as a rock. that one i don't like. i said to the person from texas, the white house doctor, he is a great doc, doctor for obama. they asked him, who is in better health and who is more physical fit -- physically fit? he said trump. he said trump would live to 200 years old if he wouldn't eat so much junk food. dr. ronny jackson. a white house doctor, now a great congressman from texas.

i said to him, you know, iould like to take a cognitive test. i never heard of it before, but whatever, i like tests. i have always liked test. tests are very interesting. he is the longest-serving professor, dr. john trump, in the history of m.i.t. the same genes. smart people. smart people. the lieutenant governor, we like horses, too. produce the fast ones. we are no different in that sense. i said, what do you think? you are going to take it but the thing is it is a very public test because we are doing it at a great hospital, walter reed. they have incredible doctors. i said, is it tough? yes, a tough test. the first questions are easy like they have a lien, draft, whale, shark, and they will say which one is the lion?

the medicines they are using would not be out for five or six years. and turned out to be the opposite. thousands of people are living, some are living, they were terminal and they are living perfectly. they do not have to go back. what they have done. in the old days which was six years ago, people would go and they would go to asia and europe and all over the world looking for a cure. they would come back home and i. or if they did not have money, they would go home and die. now you sign a piece of paper, there is no liability to anybody, they give you these new drugs and many thousands of peop living now that would not be living. so many things. rebuilding our military, unfortunately we gave 85 billion of it to■ac afghanistan. we had a bunch of people running the operation. under my leadership everyone was better off including importantly our cherished hispanic american community. hispanic american number two, they are being horribly threatened because of what is happening because millions of people bring in. the real number is 18 million, i said earlier, the fake news once you to think it is bigger than new york state. bigger than new york state. that is affecting i think at the highest african-american numbers anyone has seen. it has the highest hispanic numbers that anyone has seen. if those polls are right, the democrats are in big trouble. with a better end trump a couple of more times -- we better indict donald trump a couple more times. the latino community, biden's inflation disaster has crushed your household finances. what has he done to your finances? incredible. he has crushed your finances and the open border policy. they demolished your wages, the inflation he caused.

more for african-americans than any other president. the opportunity zones, i did that with him. funding for the black colleges and universities that had no funds, they would come to, i will never forget it. the heads of the black colleges and universities, they would come in and they would see me every year. after three years i said what are you doing? they said for many years we come and see the president and we have to bag. a lot of really good people. they work hard and they need funds to keep their schools going. you have harbored in all these other places with billions of -- harvard and all of these places with billions of dollars. they said we need help. after the third year i said what are you doing this for? i got them long-term financing. from money than they had asked for. tim scott relating the story

today and many other things. you want to look at opportunities, there has never been an economic development program for black americans and hispanic americans. ever been an economic program like that, opportunity zones. nobody likes to talk about it, one of the most successful economic development programs. it will not stop. nobody wants to go there. we will take all of the graffiti off of the walls and we will clean up the roads. all over the asphalt. i went there a month ago, for one of the biden trials, which trial? number 14? i have so many trials. going into federal courthouse which is in bad shape, bad shape. going there, i am riding over paper, paper that has been laying there for six months. hands. garbage, the median, the metal strap that is falling before you even build this stuff? it is always falling down. i asked robert what is wrong with that stuff?

the day they put it up, it must be the son, the heat, something, it gets hit. is lying out on the roads -- it is laying out on the roads. can you imagine the king and the queen of the country, the president of the country driving in and you are driving over garbage to get to the white house? you see roads in worse shape than most countries have? roads that have potholes all over them? graffiti all over the white marble columns? this is what is happening in our great washington dc. ]áwho will take over washingtonc and federalize it and how the toughest law enforcement in the -- we will take over washington dc and federalize it and have the toughest law enforcement. executive order to cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory and other inappropriate racial and sexual or political content onto our children. i will not give one penny to any school that has a vaccine mandate or a mask --[cheering] something i cannot believe i have to say but i guess i do, who would have thought even 10 years ago this was necessary. there are politicians who think this is a wonderful policy because they are not smart people. or something is going on. i will keep men and women's -- out of women's sports. can you imagine? [cheering] can you imagine weightlifting? have you ever seen the difference? they broke the record by 142 pounds. the record breaking years they could not break it, a quarter of an ounce here. this guy comes along, have you ever looked at before? broke the record by 142 pounds.

that was set a long time. we get a straight, when that is straight, women are going to look back and they will say who was it that -- we have to bring back those records. what do you think? [cheering] those records are not going to be broken within the next 100 years by the way. how about the swimmers? all of these great swimmers and all of a sudden these women -- a man has the wingspan of the great wilkes chamberlain, right? he jumped into that pool and the young women left badly injured, they get when burn as he goes by. i oppose the second amendment, i will never allow the creation of a central bank digital currency which is a big thing to take all of your money. it will take all of your money.

you will wonder what happened to my money? the court systems like to do that too. it is like communism. it is like communism but digital currency. it will get rid of that. we will protect innocent lives and restore free speech and i will secure the elections like never before. because if we do not have fair and honest elections we do not have border security, we do not have a borders and elections, we do not have a country. remember it when i used to talk about the wall? that is why we had the best record. they use say walls, we need things like otheristory worked,a new computer stops a leak for new days. walls and wheels. you always have walls and

video telling us your issue and why. be a part of the conversation. >> good morning, welcome back to washington journal. we are joined by lori robertson, the managing editor of fact-check.org, good morning lori. let us start there, tell us, fact-check celebrate her 20 years, tell us about your mission and help you are funded? guest: fact-check was funded by the annenberg public policy center at the university of pennsylvania, are mission is to -- our mission is to produce confusion in u.s. politics. we do that by evaluating the factual accuracy of what politicians and political actors say. since our founding we have expanded a bit into debunking misinformation on social media. we also have a project called

side check that fact-checks distortions of science. this can come from politicians or also things on social media. and funding. primarily, grant money, first and foremost the annenberg foundation, we also get money from facebook to work with facebook into debunking misinformation. we take individual donations, all of the disinformation is there, we publish the names of anybody who gives us more than $1000 and we do not take any money from unions or partisan or advocacy groups. host: what is the process for fact checking a claim? people would be curious how you even determine what claims to fact-check? guest: we review transcripts, interviews, speeches, debates, we look at tv ads, during elections, and flag statements of fact.

we are not looking for opinions, we are looking for something factual, a lot of times those are figures or somebody saying something is a record, the most or the worst superlatives are always a cue to look at that. we will do a little bit of research. we will contact the person or group who made the claim asked them for support. we do not write about truth claims, we are looking for!o things that are false and misleading. in terms of prioritizing, the more false the more egregious it is, the more likely our two write about it and looking for things that are politically relevant. in the current political debate or a piece of legislation, that is something we are more apt to write about. host: we are talking to laurie robinson, of fact-check.org, i

want to go ahead and give you the phone lines to quality. whether you want to ask a question in general about the fact checking industry or you want to talk about specific claims made by a politician or have seen on social media or discuss. democrats call u at 202- 748-8000, we will get to your calls in a moment. lori, i want to ask you, as we get into specifics, things to fact-check for example and you mentioned a lot of times superlatives, what kind of peak your interest. we know recently biden said that the federal deficit has the

largest one-year drop in american history. the hill wrote an article about that. i think there was even s ome posts on social media by go about looking into those claims that t best buy biden. when he claimed that it fell, how do you determine that is a true statement or not? or would you do to figure out whether or not -- what would you do to figure out whether or not those claims are accurate? guest: something like that with the deficit we cannot look at the congressional budget office -- we can look at the congressional budget to look at the official deficit figures. the deficit claim from biden have we have written about a lot. he has been boasting the deficit went down by more than $1

trillion for over two years it did. but that is misleading because the primary reason it happened is because of expiring pandemic spending. >> let's talk about former president donald trump. we know he has given fact checkers a lot to look at, both when he was president and now the is running again for president. i want to read a quote from a recent town hall earlier this month in iowa. this is again, former president donald trump. he said, we were doing better than everybody had ever done for 2.5 years and then covid came along. we were getting ready to start selling oil to asia and europe. we were going to pay down our debt where we were at at that time like $29 trillion. now we are $36 trillion. but, we were going to start paying down our own debt.

we were going to do things nobody could believe. a lot of times, when he speaks, there is so much to unpack. how do you guys even -- how do you approach in general fact checking former president trump? how would you found something -- fact-check something like that statement from iowa. >> you are right. sometimes there are a lot of claims. part of it is looking for what is the primary point that is being made. also, what can we fact-check? sometimes it is just not possible for us to look into it. it is hearsay. somebody said something and we are not able to fact check private conversation. that particular claim we looked at whether or not the u.s. was,n our debt by selling u.s. energy.

yesterday throwing out some figures on the economy under donald trump versus joe biden and such. what is the accurate measurement via fax checked on gdp under trump, jobs created, the real facts event? because, it seems to be a little bit of inconsistency. trumpers say the economy was great under trump. the democrats, we say it is better under joe biden, which i believe it is. i just want a little bit of clarification on that. thank you for c-span. sure. well, one resource from our website that would be really helpful here. we do quarterly reports called bidens numbers. we get them under trump as well called drums numbers. we are not fact checking a particular claim.

we are just stating various statistical measures of what has happened in the country under their presidencies. in the reports, we look at employment. if you want to check oynumbers e bureau of labor statistics. we look at the economy with gdp growth, gdp numbers coming from the bureau of economic analysis. i encourage you to check out our latest biden numbers. we are often making comparisons to how these statistical measures under biden so far in his presidency compare with the same point of the trump residency. >> i will read some of the bullet points from the january 2024 updates on bidens numbers. it said, the economy added more than 14 million jobs and that number is now nearly 4.9 million higher than before the pandemic.

it says that the unemployment rate dropped back to just above the pre-pandemic low. unfilled job openings again outnumber unemployed jobseekers. it says that inflation spike to the highest level in over four years. despite recent moderation, consumer prices are up nearly 18% overall during bidens time. gasoline is up 29%. those, again, are just some bullet points for fact check factcheck. org looking at numbers under president joe biden. greg is calling on the republican line from pendleton, indiana. go ahead. >> my question to your guest is, she said that so and so checked
