our service members comes first to me. >> esper says with the president ordering u.s. forces to pull out, america's main ally in the fight against isis, the kurds, are now trying to save themselves from turkish troops. they're trying to cut a deal with the syrian regime and their russian backers. we go live for the latest. what are you learning? >> good morning, dave. we have a very chaotic situation in northeastern syria. the united states is planning what is being described as the deliberate withdrawal, to pull out what remains of northern syria, because of what is fast developing. very concerning for u.s. officials. you mentioned there, you have on

the one hand, the turkish-backed southeastern for syrian forces and militias. the u.s. has concerns about them. they say there's extremist elements among them. they're not really seen as a friendly force. on the other hand, we're hearing that the syrian military is confirming through its state media, saying their forces are moving north, a claim we have not been able to independently verify at this point. what we do know and we heard from the kurdish authorities in northern syria yesterday, in a statement, they put out on their facebook page, that should come as no surprise, as we've heard. their leaders hinting at this for days, saying they have been left with no option, but to turn to the syrian regime. they've announced they have reached an agreement for damascus for the syrian military to deploy along the turkish

border. they say that is the duty of the syrian regime to protect the borders and its sovereignty. we have to wait to see what happens in the next few hours. we haven't heard a confirmation about this agreement. the details of the agreement and what might happen. but this is being viewed, dave, as a success and a victory here. not just for the syrian regime, but for the russian backers. >> and quickly, jomana, what is the latest with the prisoners we haerdz had escaped? >> this is something we heard from kurdish officials. they're really concernconcerned. you have the camps where family members of isis detainees are held with refugees and currently displaced people. and you have the detention facilities where they have about 12,000 isis detainees, 2,000 of them foreign jihadists from 50 different countries.

while they're fighting the turkish military operation, they're saying that this is really leaving these prisons and these camps pretty vulnerable. and yesterday, these reports coming out from kurdish authorities, saying one of those camps, they say that several hub hu hundred -- 700 people linked to isis managed to escape as part of this because of the chaos we've been seeing. according to the united nations, there's a population about 13,000 people in one camp. the majority remain there. but there's reports that some may have fled. a chaotic situation. >> jomana karadsheh, thank you. more subpoenas are coming through in the trump impeachment inquiry. the pressure from house democrats to vote on impeachment

as soon as thanks gigiving to g it over with before the heat of primary season. republicans, in the meantime, are trying to find various ways to fight back. jeremy diamond has more from the white house. >> reporter: good morning, dave and julia. a busy week on capitol hill, indeed. it all begins today, as democrats continue to move forward with their house impeachment inquiry. they will be bringing forward fiona hill for a deppation behind closed doors. she was the top adviser for much of the president's tenure. she left the white house days before the president's call with zelensky in july. later in the week, they will be bringing forward gordon sonla sondeland. last year, he was barred di the white house and the state department from testifying on capitol hill.

now, under subpoena pressure he will be testifying. and sondland, denying there was any quid pro quo in the conversations, according to "the washington post," he will say the president told him there was no quid pro quo, but he doesn't necessarily know if that statement was, in deed, truthful. while democrats have spent much of the weekend preparing for the busy week on the bill, the president, meanwhile, is spending time defending his personal attorney, rudy giuliani. >> he was a fantastic prosecutor. i know nothing about him being under investigation. somebody said, i heard a report. i can't imagine it. he's a man who looks for corruption. and whatever he does, i believe he's a totally -- i mean, i know, he's an honorable man. >> reporter: a source confirming that the president had lunch with rudy giuliani at his golf course on saturday. and the president's defense and

entertaining. but it is by far, the worst. the images depicted are vile and horrific. the president and his family, the white house and the trump campaign need to denounce it immediately in the strongest possible terms. anything less equates to a tacit endorsement of violence and should not be tolerated by anyone. the campaign said they did not produce the video and does not condone it. the family of a black texas woman who was fatally shot inside her ft. worth, texas, home by a white house police officer is calling for an outside agency to investigate. an attorney for the family says she was playing video games with her 8-year-old nephew when an officer shot her through a window. >> the officer observed a person through a rear window in the residence and shot at that person. the officer did not announce he

was a police officer prior to shooting. what the officer observed and why he did not announce police, will be addressed as the investigation continues. >> the officer who fired the fatal scheduled to be interviewed later today. >> we went from a welfare check to a woman being killed by the cops. >> reporter: outrage is building. saturday morning, just before 2:30 a.m., police were called to the home, after neighbors noticed her front door was open. body camera video picks up what happens next. after police peer through the front door, they walk the perimeter of the property, when suddenly, police say, an officer spots someone standing near a window. >> put your hands up. show me your hands. >> reporter: the medical examiner identified the woman as

jefferson. she died at the scene. >> i feel guilty. had i not called the police department, my neighbor would still be alive today. >> reporter: in a statement, ft. worth police said their officer drew his weapon and fired the shot after, quote, perceiving a threat. in addition to the body camera footage, investigators released this still photo, showing a firearm inside the house. cnn legal analyst and criminal defense attorney joey jackson cautions not to jump to conclusions. >> you're going to release the fact that she has a gun in the home, as what? to suggest she had a gun and we were, perhaps, fearful for our life. there's no indication where that gun was. there's no indication she had the gun. there's no indication she should not have had the gun. >> reporter: cnn has requested the unedited body camera footage. nothing will be released at this time and the department shares the deep concerns of the public and is committed to completing a

they're trying to cut a deal with the syrian regime and their russian backers. we go to jomana karadsheh. tell us what kind of deal we're talking about between the kurds and the syrian regime? will it give turkey pause for cause, perhaps? >> reporter: those are the questions this morning, julia. we're waiting to find out more about this agreement that was no surprise, announced by the kurdish authorities in north and eastern syria. in a statement they posted on their facebook page late last night, saying, basically they were left with no choice here, but to cut a deal with the syrian regime. they say they've asked the syrian military to deploy along the border with turkey, to help them face this turkish military aggression, as they describe it. they say it is the duty of the syrian regime, to protect the

borders and maintain the country's sovereignty. they've not had details of this agreement. what kind of deployment is it going to be? are they going to be entering different cities? this is unclear, and we've not had confirmation from any announcement other than through the state media saying that the syrian military was moving north to help, basically, confront what they also describe as the turkish invasion and the turkish aggression. and the question that you bring up, everyone is waiting to see what turkey's reaction is going to be because they have said they will carry out this operation. but now, with the syrian military coming in, with the russian backing, and we know that there is open channels of communication through the russians with this syrian regime, is there going to be any sort of an agreement? or are we going to be seeing a

the scene to try to save lives. and families rush to the scene, hoping and praying that their loved ones had made it out alive. take a look over my shoulder at the black crane. it weighs 110 tons. it was brought in on sunday to stabilize the structure to allow the search and rescue teams to further their search. the body of one deceased was uncovered on sunday. the dramatic moments of the collapse were caught on camera, showing the floors of the building flatten. a cloud of dust plume as workers run for their lives. the cause of the collapse has not been determined yet. but osha is on-scene and ready to investigate. fire crews in southern california, finally getting a handle on the saddle ridge fire that's consumed nearly 8,000 acres. it's the largest wildfire in the
