weather conditions. an unnamed iranian official has told the reuters news agency, the lives of the president raisi and iran's foreign minister are at risk. meanwhile, iranians have been urged to pray for the health of their leaders. they've been gathering in droves in the president's home city — following pleas from state media. hello and welcome to sportsday with me olly foster. it's a fantastic four in a row for manchester city, champions of england once again. arsenal went down fighting to the very end, getting the win they needed but eventually falling two points short.
7:31 pm
the klopp era is over at liverpool — it's an emotional end to the season at anfield. also coming up on sportsday... celtic have completed a league double, with their women's team champions of scotland for the first time. and max verstappen is back on the top step, holding off a late charge from lando norris to win the emilia romagna grand prix. hello there, welcome along. manchester city have made history, the first side in the top division of english football to win four titles in a row. there were a few nerves, but their 3—1 win over west ham meant that arsenal's late winner over everton couldn't stop them sealing another title. city decade of dominance continues, that's 8 premier league

crowns in 13 seasons. joe lynskey reports on how the title was won on the final day. the 38th match, the top flight*s last act. in manchester and north london, it would start with possibilities. arsenalfaced everton on 86 points, their most for 20 years and yet still not in their hands. city knew they would win the league if they beat west ham, if there was any doubt, it lasted less than two minutes. commentator: phil foden! wow! phil foden hasn't yet reached age 2a but with this, he was set for his sixth league title. after all the preparations, still his coach wears his luckyjumper. but with forwards like foden, he doesn't need superstition. commentator: foden! the premier league's

player of the year, in this team of superstars, the key man comes from stockport. at arsenal, the news filtered through. their path to history gone off course. commentator: it is deflected and in! everton came here on a run of five games unbeaten, the test arsenal expected now required reaction. it took them three minutes to find some hope again. 1—1 at the emirates and at city, not done yet. 2—1 but in this quest for perfection, it was barely a blemish. last year, rodri scored their champions league winner, now his goalfor 3—1 had city back on course. no team in top—flight history has won it for might times in a row. won it four times in a row. it made arsenal's result truly immaterial. some fans there got false reports, if city's match was 2—2 the gunners* winner would have been special but as it was just like last

season, they come up short to city. it has been like this since 2021. in more than one century of english league football, no team's been this relentless. joe lynskey, bbc news. let's get more from the etihad stadium, our correspondent katie gornall was at the game. they have been selling champions banners, flags, scarves since full—time but in truth, they probably had them ready for weeks. their fans were confident that today would be the day because they know city have been in this position before and theyjust don't falter, as you say, with the finish line in sight. they are a relentless winning machine and now they have done something unique, they have made history and won four league titles in a row. it is something the great teams of the past over decades, over a century of ingush football haven't been able to attain. the likes of huddersfield
7:35 pm
in the 19205, the great arsenal team in the 19305, liverpool, that team of the 19805 that enjoyed so much success and of course manchester united's teams under sir alex ferguson in that era, they were never able to go more than three titles in a row. city have managed that and it is history made here at the etihad. of course, for many outside the city's fan base, there is something of a cloud currently over this achievement while those financial charges against the club from the premier league remain unresolved. it has been more than one year since they were hit with 115 allegations of breaching premier league financial rule5, charges they strongly deny and there seems no hearing confirmed yet. in the meantime, city will get their hands on this trophy, they might get their hands on another one next weekend. they take on manchester united in the fa cup final hoping to become the first team to complete a double domestic double.
7:36 pm
katie gornall there. we are still waiting for pep guardiola or any of the manchester city team to make it to a bbc microphone, i'v e i've a i'vea 1.5 i've a 1.5 hours since full time, the players are still enjoying the moments with their winner5 medal5 moments with their winner5 medals and families and their team—mates on the pitch but let's hope we can bring you some reaction. it was a very different mood at the emirates stadium where arsenal have come up short once again. joe wilson is there for us a few people have mentioned to me actually after the end of the match here that they kept the title race interesting for all of us, in a sense kept manchester city honest. people are aware of those financial investigations that katie referenced in her interviewjust now. in terms of what happened here today, one fan referred to it a5 a "roller—coaster". i'm not quite sure if it was really that, it was only a 5ee5aw and that hope arsenal began the afternoon with seemed strong at half—time with west ham having scored their goal in manchester and with the score here being 1—1.
7:37 pm
now, it was tough for arsenal to break down everton today who came into this game with a lot of form themselves, it wasn't until later in the game that arsenal scored the winning goal but at least from arsenal's point of view, they can say they did all they could do today. they took care of their business, won their match. looking at the longer term, broader picture, there is a real sense amongst arsenal supporters that they have made progress this season and if you look at the key players in their team from the defenders through to declan rice, kai havertz, through to saka who was injured today and martin 0degaard, all those players, 26 years old or younger. that is the basis for a great squad i think going forward. one question this summer, will this club bring in a high—profile striker? a few supporters would definitely like that, maybe that could mean first rather

than second next season. they are getting closer, five points la5t they are getting closer, five points last season, two points this season. let's get more from north london now, here is what some of the fans have had to say about arsenal mi55ing out on the title again. it was up and down, before the match started, the atmosphere was absolutely electric. we were so happy, we did have hope, we had hope, we played well all season but the city being as good as they are, when they went ahead, we were living in hope then i suppose. it has when they went ahead, we were living in hope then i suppose.— in hope then i suppose. it has been a ureat in hope then i suppose. it has been a great season. _ in hope then i suppose. it has been a great season, at _ in hope then i suppose. it has been a great season, at least _ in hope then i suppose. it has been a great season, at least it - in hope then i suppose. it has been a great season, at least it has - a great season, at least it has finally — a great season, at least it has finally been interesting. watching arsenal_ finally been interesting. watching arsenal play and the whole battle versus _ arsenal play and the whole battle versus manchester city and liverpool who were _ versus manchester city and liverpool who were back in it, it wasjust a beautiful— who were back in it, it wasjust a beautiful sport, i love the sport again. — beautiful sport, i love the sport again. it — beautiful sport, i love the sport again, it has been a great season, i'm just _ again, it has been a great season, i'm just excited for next season, come _ i'm just excited for next season, come back— i'm just excited for next season, come back again, see how we do. gf come back again, see how we do. course, we had come back again, see how we do. of course, we had a full programme of premier league fixtures.

there were a couple of other live issues on the final day, with teams looking to secure european football next season. tottenham needed just a point at sheffield united to make sure they stay fifth. they won 3—0. dejan kulu5ev5ki scored twice, pedro porro the other. that means tottenham have qualified for the europa league next season. chelsea will also be playing in europe. they beat bournemouth 2—1 to finish sixth. they will have to wait until after the fa cup final next weekend, before finding out if that is good enough for the europa league or the uefa europa conference league. if manchester city beat manchester united, it will be the europa league. luton are officially down, they needed a huge win over fulham to have any chance of staying up, coupled with a big defeat for nottingham forest. neither of those things happened. they lost 4—2 to fulham sojoin sheffield united and burnley in going down, the same three that came up last season. nottingham forest made doubly sure of their survival by winning 2—1 at burnley.

chris wood scored twice in the first half. they finish 17th, it wa516th last season. after nine years at liverpool, jurgen klopp signed off with victory in his final game in charge. they beat wolve5 2—0 in what was always going to be an emotional afternoon at anfield. there was nothing riding on the game so it was all about saying farewell to the man who brought the club its first top division title in 30 years amongst a total of eight trophies. hopefully we can see —— bring you some of the images from anfield. here they are. he shed a slight tear, thought he would be more emotional. brought the club its first top division title in 30 years amongst eight trophies, winning the

season but they can still complete the double with the cup final coming up next weekend. newcastle finished seventh, that might be enough for european football, they need city to win the fa cup and down at the bottom, it's as you were. luton not getting the miracle they needed, the bottom three all losing today on the way back down to the championship. we've had the final three games in the scottish premiership and it's ross county who will have to play in the relegation play—off after finishing 11th in the table. they could only draw at home to aberdeen and stjohnstone held onto beat motherwell 2—1, and that saw them jump above county on goal difference. ross county will face championship side raith home and away to decide which plays in the premiership. already relegated livingston drew with hibs. celtic women have won their first scottish women's premier league title. they thought they'd blown it but a 90th minute winner from amy gallacher,
7:43 pm
whose great grandfather was the club legend patsy gallacher, saw them beat hibs1—0 and that saw them finish above rangers on goal difference. rangers did all they could, getting the wqin they needed, 4—0 against partick thistle 4—0 but news of that late, late celtic winner meant it was all in vain. and there is the top of the table. both sides finish on 82 points with identical records and both with incredible goal difference, with each scoring well over 100 goals in the season, but celtic 13 goals better off so take the title. last year's champions glasgow city were a long way off in third. crawley town have been promoted to league one after beating crewe alexandra 2—0 in the league two play—off final at wembley. crawley thrashed mk dons 8—1 on aggregate to reach wembley and went ahead through danilo 0r5i.
7:44 pm
crawley only avoided being relegated from football league by a whisker last season but with a few minutes left, liam kelly confirmed that they'lljoin stockport, wrexham and mansfield in promotion to league one. let's have a quick look at some of the other stories making the headlines today.. emma raducanu has withdrawn from this week's french open qualifying saying she'll skip the rest of the clay court season to make sure she's fit for her wimbledon preparations and the rest of the year. the 2021 us open champion hasn't played since losing in the first round of the madrid 0pen last month. and alexander zverev has his sixth masters title. the german beat nicolas jarry in staright sets in the italian 0pen final. it's the second time he's won in rome. london lions completed a clean sweep of trophies by beating newcastle eagles 92—65 in the final at the o2 arena to win the women's british basketball league play—offs, it's the highest score ever seen in the final.
7:45 pm
max verstappen is back on top of podium. he led from start to finish in this afternoon's emilia romagna grand prix. the red bull had struggled in practice and verstappen had only just topped the time sheets in qualifying, but the world champion was imperious around the imola circuit. lando norris, who won the last race in miami was second for mclaren, with gthe ferrari's of charles leclerc and carlos sainz 3rd and 4th. verstappen is 48 points clear of leclerc in the standings after winning five of the seven races so far this season, but it was far from straightforward at imola. the last ten, 15 laps, i had no grip any more, i was really sliding a lot. i saw lando closing in so the last ten laps was just flat out but it is very difficult when the tyres are not working any more and you have to go flat out. so i couldn't

afford to make too many mistakes, luckily we didn't and super happy of course to win here today. warrington wolves are into the challenge cup final after thumping huddersfield giants by 46—10. warrington were in control for most of the match and matt williams ran almost the whole length of the pitch to give them an 18—point lead at half—time. four more tries followed after the break with two for matt dufty. warrington will play 20—time winners wigan in the final at wembley onjune 8th. leeds rhinos beat wigan by 3a points to 20 in their women's challenge cup semi—final. it was level at half—time but ruby enright scored a try in each half for leeds who ran away with the match after the break. they'll play rivals st helens for the trophy who've beaten them in the last two finals. revenge on the cards there. england's women completed a 3—0 t20 series win over pakistan at headingley.
7:47 pm
the player of the match was england's danni wyatt who scored 87 off 48 balls, making the most of being dropped three times. she was closing in on a century before holing out. england set pakistan 177 for victory and though the tourists made a solid start and only lost four wickets, they were always going to fall short, england won by 3a runs. the two sides will now play three one—dayers. tyson fury was sure that he'd won last night's superfight in saudi arabia but it's 0lexander usyk who is the heavyweight division's first undisputed four—belt world champion. it was an enthralling fight, the ukrainian taking the contest on points, but the judges were split. it's fury*s first professional loss, our reporter ade adedoyin was ringside in riyadh. 0leksandr usyk on top of the world.
7:48 pm
tyson fury, the self—styled gypsy king, dethroned. a fight for the ages, which started off as a bit of a cat—and—mouse affair. both had some early success, fury clearly enjoying himself, showboating as he began to take control. until this massive momentum shift in round nine. commentator: can you believe it? fury rocked to his boots and almost wilted under an incredible barrage of punches. battered from pillar to post, he looked out on his feet, but saved by the bell. he showed great resilience to go the distance, but the night belonged to usyk and ukraine. commentator: a show for the ages! 0leksandr usyk made history moving, and undisputed cruiserweight champion, he has in the heavyweight, a performance that will seal his place as one
7:49 pm
of the greatest of all time. nine months i work, whole time training, training, training, my focus was only this fight. now i am happy. i tried my best and there, i was having a lot of fun, actually, i don't know if it looked like it, i was playing around, i was enjoying it. he is a good fighter, 0leksandr, i was catching him and he was catching me, so i hope you guys enjoyed it as much as i did. it was brilliant and brutal. there is a rematch clause in the contract, so it might not be over yet. ade adedoyin, bbc news. boxing writer and broadcaster steve bunce was also at the fight and says it was close, but usyk defintitely had the edge fury did think he had won, but he said, "i'm a fighting man, i will take it." two of the judges only separated them by one round. that shows it was a really tight fight, and it was a really tight fight. had usyk lost, he wouldn't have screamed. fury lost, he didn't scream. you might hear him change
7:50 pm
the narrative over the next few days, that's just boxing, that's the way it works. a5 for the ninth round, that's one of the all—time great heavy heavyweight rounds. in about round six, usyk was trailing by a couple of points. and he clawed his way back, in the ninth round he hit tyson fury, i'll use an expression, now i finally know what it means, he was hit from pillar to post, his back hit every side of the ring in a ridiculous a0 or 50 second sequence, resulting in him toppling into the ropes, which, in boxing, constitutes a knock down. great britain's sabrina fortune broke the world record twice on her way to retaining her shot put title at the world para—athletics championships in japan. tomorrow marks 100 days until the paris paralympics. on friday, great britain's hollie arnold, who won gold at the rio paralympics in 2016, sealed an impressive sixth consecutive world title in the javelin and after getting her medal, she spoke with my colleaguejane dougall.
7:51 pm
this was different coming into this world championships. i think i have become a happier hollie. like you said in the bbc article, ifell in love with javelin again and i'm in a happier place so i was really excited but it is always that nerves that kick in and it is like the angel and the devil on your shoulder going, you can do this, on the other side, what if you don't win then you lose all your titles? you need to win your sixth title... itjust goes on and on and on. but that comes with experience and knowledge and i wanted to win so badly. i also had a really bad migraine one month ago and i had blurry vision for a while and i had blurry vision for a while and it is still blurry but we have just managed that at the moment and i think it could be worse, as soon as i walked out on the runway it was just calm. like, ifelt happy as i walked out on the runway it was just calm. like, i felt happy energy and just, just calm. like, i felt happy energy andjust, i just calm. like, i felt happy energy and just, i couldn't wait to throw.

just a reminder of our top story, manchester city clinching a record fourth premier league crown in a row, their 8th title in 13 seasons. going into the final day two points clear of arsenal, they beat west ham 3—1. a little bit nervy at times when west ham got themselves back into it. arsenal got a late winner at home to everton, but they have fallen short once again this from the city captain kyle walker on winning four in a row, "it has been spoken about all year what we can achieve and the history we can make. but it is about the finer details. it was down to just one game and that game was west ham united. we get past that then we make history but more importantly we claim the premier league again." you will have more reaction to their win from pep guardiola and some of the players, that will pop up on the bbc sport website across the evening but from me and the rest of the team
7:56 pm
here at sportsday, good night. good evening. it really has been a weekend of contrast. once again, we've had a few storms develop through the afternoon, fewer than we had yesterday, but 2a in the warm sunshine. and it should stay warm and dry to start for many of us. but it will turn cooler through the week as wet and windy conditions arrive. and of course, it hasn't been warm sunshine for all we've had stubborn sea fog around the north sea coast, some of the irish sea coast as well. so just a cool 12 today and then that sea fog mist and low cloud will return back inland as we go through the night. so some fog again around tomorrow morning, particularly across eastern areas. cooler, slightly fresher than it was last night. could be some fog further west as well. so all in all, i think quite a grey and misty start for many of us
7:57 pm
on our monday morning. once again, the fog and that low cloud retreats back to the coast and we should see less of it through monday than we've seen during the weekend. and the same goes for the irish sea coasts, but we could still have one or two showers, slow—moving thunderstorms as we go through the afternoon, because once again, in that sunshine, temperatures will leap up to the high teens and low 205. they're a little bit lower temperatures than they've been today, just because it'll be a chillier start for some of us. and then through monday evening and overnight, we'll probably pick up more mist and low cloud once again and perhaps a few more showers will come into eastern areas. and we've got this weather system approaching to the west. so a slightly chillier night. again, fours and fives actually as we start tuesday morning. not really a frost level worry, but certainly chillier than it has been now. tuesday looks like a slightly more unsettled day, more showers around, if you like, particularly for the west, northern ireland, as that weather front comes in, those showers turn thundery and also eastern and northern areas.
7:58 pm
that means that with a bit more cloud around, there might well be temperatures a little bit lower and one or two potentially around for the chelsea flower show. of course, that's coming up through this week, a little bit drier towards the end of the week. the reason for the unsettled weather tuesday night into wednesday's, this area of low pressure approaching for the east as well as weather fronts approaching from the west. all in all, it looks like it'll turn wetter and windier for the midweek period. so a rather unsettled—looking picture by that stage. perhaps fewer showers friday and saturday, but still a rather unsettled looking picture with temperatures closer to average. good evening, it has been a weekend of contrast.
7:59 pm
