the club posted financial losses for the fifth successive year in march after reporting a near £50 million deficit last year. well, let's get some more on this, with hugh ferris, who's been following the story. this is a punishment handed down after a breach of the premier league's profitability and sustainability regulations, what have come to be known as financial fair play, or ffp, and follow the league referring the club to an independent commission in march. ffp states clubs are only allowed to lose a maximum of £105 million over a three—year period. essentially, the commission has agreed with the league and concluded a ten—point penalty should be
